MVSU criticism
I couldn’t ignore Robert D. Box Sr.’s letter (“MVSU doesn’t do enough for Itta Bena,” Nov. 29) and will share my experience.
Having given serious consideration to taking classes at Mississippi Valley State University this fall, I called the department in which I was interested. No one was available. I called later, and by this time maybe my phone number was recorded because my call wasn’t answered at all.
After letting a few days go by, I was able to get through and left a polite message on the department head’s phone. I thought surely someone will call now so I can get started taking classes. It never happened. I heard nothing from anyone.
The street talk or common understanding is that William Bynum brought his own group of employees when he began as president. Itta Bena Mayor Thelma Collins surely cares and works tirelessly to deal with the mess.
Perhaps readers understand the big picture and why Itta Bena is having a hard time.
Trump editorial
In your editorial, you express surprise that Donald Trump is still lying (“Trump’s not stopped lying,” Nov. 29)
Did you think that he would stop lying when lying got him elected president? This country has turned a corner and who knows what will happen on this block. I will be waiting and watching what all those poor souls who believed those lies and voted for him will do when they realize that he is just another man with money who tells lies. Nothing more, nothing less.
A lot of hateful things were said about President Obama and his family. Because hate breeds hate, a lot of hateful things will be said about President Trump and his family. His family doesn’t deserve it, but neither did the Obama family.
This should be an interesting four years. We deserve the government we get.

Regarding the editorial, do you remember these lines?
“There are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.”
Or “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”
