Hospital board
“Lions and tigers and bears, oh, my!”
Regarding the Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board’s “fear” that the “general public” is a ticking “time bomb” so potentially dangerous as to start scanning (but only) “members of the public” (for guns? knives? bombs?!!!) who attend their meetings, the board members flatter themselves.
It sounds as if they are trying to take the blame off of themselves for constantly doing nothing but making things worse.
Nobody in Greenwood or Leflore County is half as absorbed with the board as its members appear to be with themselves. And I cannot imagine anyone, even their detractors, who thinks they are even worth a ... well, let’s just leave it at a BB.
Rather than scanners, the “general public” in Greenwood and Leflore County should be worried about scammers, both those on the board and those that the board seems intent on continually hiring. At the rate the board is going, we soon may not have any choice but to say, “Take me to Ruleville!”

Regarding the article “Hospital study planned” (March 19):
The food they are eating at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board meetings is better than the food the patients are eating. All they need is cheese and crackers, maybe a soda.

Potholes
Regarding the article (“City council discusses solution for potholes in streets,” March 20):
When APAC located in the industrial park, wasn’t it granted tax exemptions based on the assumption it would be beneficial to have the resource available to the city and county?
It looks like it isn’t that great of a corporate citizen after all.

Elizabeth Warren
Regarding the editorial “Not Warren country” (March 20):
Why not evaluate Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s views on their merits, instead of just writing her off as a “Massachusetts liberal”? Perhaps she has some things to say that might be worth the time of voters, even in red-state Mississippi.
