Open-carry law
Just Wednesday, in Houston, Texas, cops on a 911 call went to the wrong address and ended up killing the 72-year-old homeowner who had armed himself against the “intruders.”
Extending the potential for and frequency of such accidents into the public streets is just stupid.

Lawbreakers
I have noticed from the police report that some people keep breaking the same laws over and over, such as driving with no driver’s license and no insurance.
Why can’t the police stop them more often. They know who they are.
If the lawbreakers keep getting tickets and fines, maybe they will either stop driving or get the insurance and driver’s license that the rest of us have.

Online college fraud
The feds go to the street and catch big-time dope dealers. Please tell me why you can’t catch the people who enroll in online colleges in the name of the incarcerated.
They receive large refund checks and live the big-time life as a drug dealer. It’s free money at the expense of the person who’s incarcerated. Does identity theft not matter if the person is incarcerated?

‘Lucy’ photo
Regarding the photo (July 24) from the Celebrity Waiter Dinner:
This “Lucy” episode is one of my favorite ones. I will have to look it up and watch it again.
I hope that Anne Marie Kornelis did it justice. From the look of pure joy on her face, I’m sure that she did.
What a fun evening this probably was. Glad that they raised $7,000. Would have been great if it could have been more.
