Regarding the article “Langdon calls mayor ‘anti-Christ’” (Jan. 22):
Thanks for a great laugh! I had tears coming out of my eyes. Really, you can’t make up a story like that. Can’t wait for the national media to catch it.
My favorite one-liners:
• “I’m never going to tell them to go outside the law. I’m not a police person.” Don’t worry, Carolyn, you don’t HAVE to be a police person to go outside the law.
• “David Jordan ... said Langdon’s accusations against the mayor, if true, troubled him.” Yeah, I’d be troubled I never noticed the seven heads thing myself.

Johnny Langdon Sr. is a very-much-respected man of the Greenwood community. Langdon has served 29 faithful years on the police force without any trouble or complaints. His name isn’t ringing all over town from being a dirty cop. (There are some.)
Of course, it is obvious that the way he feels didn’t just hit him overnight, but since this is a free country and we all have freedom of speech, Langdon had the right to say what he felt when he decided to. The fact that he decided to speak on how he felt during his retirement speech was his choice, and I think he made the right decision.
I don’t think his intentions were to embarrass your mayor, and he certainly did not embarrass himself. He had something to say, and he said it. End of story.
Langdon deserves this time to recuperate from having to deal with the dictatorship of your mayor.

Mayor Carolyn Mc-Adams, don’t let them get under your skin. You are doing a wonderful job. The Greenwood Police Department isn’t doing its job. It never has. I’m so glad that you have finally found out about them.
I want to know one thing, Mayor. What took so long to open your eyes?
I hope you will run again and again.

What a mess. Throw the bums on the City Council out.
Some are done and won’t run again. Some don’t pay their taxes. Some are stuck in the 1950s. Vote them all out.
We are the laughingstock of the state with the highest car tags in the nation.
