Pulley hiring
Regarding the article “Board hires
Pulley’s son” (Dec. 14):
Does anyone really believe a principal
(Percy Powell) and an assistant superintendent (Jennifer Wilson)
would ever discipline the superintendent’s son? It does not matter
who recommended him, Kenneth Pulley is still Margie Pulley’s
son.
The same nepotism and political mess
that is going on in the Leflore County schools has trickled into
the Greenwood School District. The job (alternative school
principal) was orchestrated to keep Kenneth Pulley from having to
work in the school district where his aunt was just defeated.
Rest assured, it won’t be long before
he transitions from interim principal to principal. This is a slap
in the face for those in the city school system looking to
advance.

Troy Brown and people like him are the
main reason why our community is divided and in squalor.
Most of our best and brightest leave,
get educated and never return. Why? Anytime one of our county’s own
advances or stands up for what’s right, there’s always a crew of
“haters” there to shout “nay.”
It doesn’t matter who Kenneth Pulley’s
mother or father is. He’s a professional educator, not someone just
looking for a “job.” If anything he’s overqualified to manage a
building full of juvenile delinquents. It is actually a waste of
talent putting him there.
Poor us. We don’t ever know when we’re
coming out on the good end of a deal.
Repredto Reed
Regarding the article “‘That wasn’t
him’: Slain man’s family, friends say newspaper painted inaccurate
picture” (Dec. 15);
I had known Repredto Reed for the last
three years, and he was a pleasure to be around. He was never
anything but polite and courteous to me and my family.
I, like many others in Greenwood, will
miss Repredto.
