Election results
Is there any reason the precinct results for Carroll and Leflore counties were not published in the Commonwealth nor The Conservative in Carrollton? Is your staff incompetent or just lazy?
This is the first time in my memory they were not published.
Are you trying to protect corrupt officials who were re-elected? Please either publish or explain why not.
Editor’s note: We cannot speak for the Carrollton newspaper, but the Commonwealth has not published precinct-by-precinct totals for several election cycles.
It’s a time-consuming process to key in the precinct-by-precinct totals. With the limited staff we have, we found it very difficult to type up and double-check those numbers and get the newspaper out anywhere close to on time on the day after the election.
Anyone interested in studying the precinct-by-precinct numbers, however, should be able to request a printout from the circuit clerk’s offices. They are public record.
Ambulance service
Regarding the article “McCoy complains about ambulance’s failure to arrive” (Aug. 5):
I have used the ambulance two times in my life, and both times it arrived promptly.
My guess as to why they didn’t arrive in a timely manner in the case to which Greenwood Councilman Charles McCoy referred was they were on a non-emergency call, taking someone to the emergency room for illnesses like a sore throat or stomach virus.
MedStat is severely abused by people who are not having to pay for their service.
Karen
Robert Gray
I suggest yet another factor for Robert Gray’s victory in the Democratic primary for governor: He is a man.
Nothing like the names Valerie and Vicki to cast doubts in the minds of uninformed voters.
Stolen gas card
Regarding the article “Ex-city worker accused of fraud” (Aug. 6):
Why leave gas cards lying around where anyone could pick them up?
