Weeks’ column
This is in response to Randy Weeks’ religion page column (“Don’t label Jesus as pacificist; call him peacemaker,” July 25):
Minister Weeks had this imaginary question-and-answer session with Jesus. In questions and answers No. 9 and 10, Mr. Weeks suggests that Jesus made a mistake by losing his temper and running the money changers out of the temple.
With all due respect to Minister Weeks, I think this conversation took place with himself alone, not with Jesus. Our Lord and Savior didn’t make mistakes.
My Thoughts
Evictions
What are the implications?
I'm a property owner in Leflore County and have been involved in eviction procedures on a tenant who has defied a court order and refuses to vacate the property. I have employed all available legal avenues and am currently at an impasse.
Law enforcement has refused to enforce the eviction order, and I've been told by an official that it is now up to me to “take matters into my own hands.” This tenant has repeatedly trespassed on my property and has even harassed me personally. Most recently my dog was even poisoned.
Again, I'm appealing to law enforcement to enforce the law.
At wit’s end
Tea party
Regarding Charlie Mitchell’s op-ed column (“Meanness is turnoff with tea partyers,” July 29):
If you think the tea party is mean, check out the people claiming to be conservative Republicans who honor not the Republican creed.
Just as John Galt Redux, they use the most hateful language toward those who work for a better government, a better world for our children and a better America.
The old guard has messed all of this up severely. It is time for a new guard.
