Editor, Commonwealth:
I’m very worried about my community, country and the world today.
I see the world trying to tell us that it is not good for people to come together. I hear a lot of people say that the world doesn’t need a savior, but yet I see people crying for one.
I understand why people are very angry, but you can’t fight hate with hate, anger with anger, and violence with violence. Prayers can and will always change things, not hate. We sometimes fight each other. We laugh and cry at times, and even sometimes we betray each other. But we can rebuild and do much better than we are doing now. We have to.
I wish that racism would end soon. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did not die for us to go against each other. Let’s work on more peaceful ways to solve problems by having local community meetings with our mayor and local leaders in office. If we want things to get better, let’s vote for the right people to get in office. They say that it takes a community to run a city. It’s going to take our Lord to help us all.
I am tired of seeing people die over nothing. You have babies dying without taking their first air. Our children can’t play for worrying about getting shot at. And in the big cities, you have some officers hurting and even killing innocent people. This needs to end now. People are losing faith, hope and love with each other as well as themselves.
Even though I look at the positive side of things, it’s very hard to do when I see the negativity going around. I love everyone in this city and beyond. I hope that with everything that is going on, we as a nation can sit at the table of sisterhood and brotherhood and work on being better to each other.
Let’s show our children that we can get along with each other. It’s time to put our talk into action and put our pride aside. Let’s put our opinions aside and work on the facts of the matter at hand. Let’s work on using common sense to help work out our situation in our community, country and the world. The way I see it, we all play a part in making our country better.
