Editor, Commonwealth:
I attended the performance of the Watoto Choir at the Leflore County Civic Center earlier this month. I would like to thank Anglean Wardell and the Greater Turner Chapel AME Church family and all who helped to facilitate the Watoto Choir’s trip to Greenwood.
All the children in the choir have suffered the loss of their parents either through war or disease. They live in the Watoto children’s village. They have a powerful message of Jesus’ love and forgiveness, and how each life will be transformed by receiving him as savior.
I am so pleased that the Mississippi Blues Fest Committee could assist this effort by making the Leflore County Civic Center arena available. It was one of the most moving and inspirational events that we could have had the privilege to support.
The program was delivered with great joy, enthusiasm and professionalism. The thorough planning and organization of the team made the experience very enjoyable.
I’d like to think that the experience gave the children who attended exposure to other cultures, which broadened their worldview. I hope each attendee was as awed, moved and encouraged as I. It was awesome.
Great job, Mrs. Wardell and her team of supporters. Thank you.
