Editor, Commonwealth:
It’s time for this community to stand up and be a part of the voting process. We have come a long way and still have a long way to go.
We are now at the beginning of another election year. By no means should we continue to elect people who do not have our best interest and our kids’ best interest in mind. When they are elected, we must stand for something or we will fall for anything. We must hold them accountable for what they do not do for their own district.
Just be mindful of that person who never comes around until election time. Let’s stop it this election year.
It makes no sense to keep putting the same people in office and never seeing anything they are doing for the district they represent.
In the last special election we had, people did not come out and vote. Remember how many of our people sacrificed their lives for the right to vote.
Just know that it would make you feel good to cast your vote for the candidate of your choice. Then you can say that the people have spoken.
But when you don’t vote, anybody can run your community and do nothing to make life better for you and our kids.
In the coming months, I urge you to do your civic duty and vote.
