This is a response to Troy Brown Sr. regarding his article, “Sam Abraham is voice of division” (Aug. 22):
Mr Brown, I personally feel you and others like you are the voices of division in our county and country. You focus on irrelevant topics that are divisive topics in order to promote racial tensions and hatred.
The Confederate monuments are part of American history, like it or not, just like the civil rights movement. Your facial expressions and gestures show your feelings. I think you should search your own soul before searching others’. Just because someone disagrees with you, it does not give you the right to attack his character.
We all know your feelings about Mr. Abraham. You have used The Greenwood Commonwealth to express them.
If you feel the need to construct another monument, go for it. Leave our Confederate monument out of it.
