Regarding the traffic light at the corner of Walnut Street and Park Avenue:
When turning left off of Park Avenue onto Walnut Street, after the early left-turn arrow has used its allotted time, the signal turns red for the rest of the traffic lights time. The question is why? Why does the left-turn signal not stay green, allowing vehicles to make a left turn when no traffic is coming?
The lights near the Greenwood Mall do this (stay green, allowing a left turn), and that area of Park Avenue is as busy or busier than the Park- Walnut area.
People spend wasted time waiting at the Park-Walnut intersection when no cars are coming, waiting for the light to recycle through to get back to the left-turn arrow, which lasts a few moments, allowing one or two cars to turn before going red again.
