Editor, Commonwealth:
In my 36 years on earth, I've watched and walked among all people. I see what everyone else sees, from a decade of good and kind people to a decade of people of fear and horror.
I see that some people are trying to make a world where standing together seems impossible. I hear some people say that there are no good people in this world anymore. I hear people saying that this world doesn’t need a savior, but yet I hear people in tears for one every day.
That’s where they are wrong. There is still good in this world and in people as well. We may laugh, we may cry, we may fight and sometimes we may betray each other, but there is still hope and we can rebuild. We can and will do better if we will put our pride aside and work together on a common ground.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy had a dream of a better world for all. That dream starts now. Let’s show our young generation that we all can get along with each other. Let’s show our young generation that there are better ways to solve problems then fighting one another. Instead of us being so judgmental to each other, let’s find a way to challenge each other to become better in life and achieve greatness. Let’s put the guns down and sit at the table together in one accord. Let’s find ways to give everyone an opportunity to have better jobs, better education and better laws that are fair for us all. Let’s always remember that small steps make big changes.
It’s a cruel world out here, but I really know in my heart that things can change for the betterment of mankind.
