In reference to the fundraiser letter that bore the name Johnny Langdon Sr. (“Fundraiser letter is legitimate, outdated,” Feb. 11):
Some of you may look at it as a simple mistake. However, I see it totally differently. How ironic is it that this simple mistake happened almost one year to the date of my retirement? How ironic is it that it happened in February, which is Black History Month? Or could it be that the real reason that this came about is Isaiah 45-15? It says, “Truly O God of Israel, our savior, you work in mysterious ways.”
The Greenwood City Council has absolutely nothing to do with the solicitation of the Police Department. Greenwood, please open your eyes.
Someone asked me today, if I missed the Greenwood Police Department after 30 years. My response was, “No, I don’t, but I do miss the good people whom I left behind, who are having a very difficult time right now.”
