Editor, Commonwealth:
Jim Upshaw recently passed away. He was a great attorney and a great friend.
He was a very intelligent lawyer, and I just loved him for his wit and sense of humor.
He was so better versed than me, but something drew us together. Then we wound up at the same nursing home.
It was a relief for me to see my old friend in my new residence.
He loved me for my wild tales of the old days, when we used to meet at The Loft on the Levee and drink and tell lies of our recent conquests.
Jim was a born arguer, and he loved me for who I am. There was nothing pretentious about him. His sense of humor was immense.
I will miss him forever. I hope that I will see him in heaven someday.
