Editor, Commonwealth:
I believe IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, for the sake of preserving the “integrity” of the IRS, should be impeached.
This commissioner was appointed to restore the American people’s confidence in the IRS. However, his actions since then have done just the opposite.
After deliberately targeting conservative groups, such as the Leflore/Carroll Tea Party, and many, many other conservative groups that were only voicing their political views, Koskinen allowed key evidence to be destroyed during case review, including 24,000 of Lois Lerner’s emails. He lied under oath, and he has been lying to the American people since he took office in 2013.
Should we be worried that American leaders will discriminate against us based upon our personal and political views? If he remains in office, I’m afraid that answer is “yes.”
I understand that even our most admired leaders make mistakes, but Commissioner Koskinen’s position of power stands as a constant threat to Americans. As a nation born in freedom, we demand full transparency and leaders we can trust. Unfortunately, John Koskinen is NOT a leader we the American people can trust.
