Editor, Commonwealth:
I want to thank the Leflore County Board of Supervisors for the opportunity to speak about Confederate Memorial Day in our county.
I was shocked that Robert Moore snuffed my comments that this was “McCarthyism race-baiting.” People of Leflore County, this is a tactic to distract you from the issues that need attention to create controversy to gain votes. If it’s not, then what if Martin Luther King Day was the holiday up for a vote? Would someone call that “race baiting”?
Sir Winston Churchill once said, “A people that forgets their heritage loses their identity.” This is cultural cleansing hyped up by the media, which want you to believe that the “Confederate flag” shot those people in Charleston, South Carolina, not Dylann Roof.
Our county has come so far together led by progressive- thinking men like Wayne Self, Anjuan Brown and Phil Wolfe. Please speak up, Leflore County, and stop the madness.
