Editor, Commonwealth:
Not sure who at the Greenwood Street Department is in charge of the street maintenance (repairing of potholes) for the city. But as I understand it, the idea is to repair the damaged section of road so it closely matches the original (smoothness) condition of the road or street.
That is not the case for a section of road coming into Greenwood from U.S. 49 South (from Tchula) as the highway goes into Main Street.
Right after going under the overpass and approaching a yellow merge sign, there is a section of U.S. 49/Main Street where a repair (if you want to call it that) has been made. That repaired section has basically been turned into a speed bump, and if hitting (30 to 40 mph) that area unaware, a person gets quite a jolt to his or her car.
A re-evaluation of the repairing of roads, as to the quality of the repair, needs to be done or just leave the potholes there. They cannot be any worse than some of the repairs made by this city.
