Editor, Commonwealth:
Should we support normalizing relations with Cuba?
What do you do with a poisonous snake? You avoid it. If you cannot avoid it, you cut its head off. Once a snake, always a snake.
I feel for the millions who are suffering under the Castro rule. We should have invaded Cuba the year after the Bay of Pigs fiasco and eliminated all the Castros.
I admire the pope for trying to help the good Catholics in Cuba, but you cannot rescue a country that is governed by a snake.
A serpent is a serpent. If you can, you chop its head off. You don’t feed it, hoping it will appreciate your kindness and change its eating habits. It will always bite you and swallow you whole if it can.
A snake is a snake, and a Castro is a Castro. One is as dangerous as the other.
Do not bail Cuba out of its dilemma.
May God have mercy on the people in Cuba.
