Editor, Commonwealth:
I heard on the news that Jerry Springer’s show is coming to an end. Good riddance.
Moral standards have gone to hell in a handbasket, never to return. Just watch one episode of Jerry Springer and you’ll see rot-gut filth.
Nowadays, we live in an anything goes society. Once upon a time, a glimpse of stocking was shocking. Now sex is as common as chewing bubble gum.
Rings in noses and lips. Same-sex marriage. What’s next?
We’re a society of extreme moral decay. Wearing pants down, exposing rear ends. Tattoos all over a body. You never hear ‘No, sir,” “Yes, sir” anymore. You never see a gentleman hold a door for a lady. Those days are long gone.
Pop those pills and get high like a kite. Foul mouths, four-letter words and our kids dropping the F-bomb. Smoke a joint and be happy.
I look back at my 68 years and ask, “Are the good times really over for good?” I love that old Merle Haggard song.
Now we’ve got men kissing men and women kissing women. Hey, it’s all on TV now, straights and gays.
What’s next in this anything goes society of moral rot and decay?
