It may be a new year, but an old problem isn’t going away. Scammers are still targeting families across our region with a variety of different schemes. That’s why area residents should remain vigilant when it comes to potential scams.
We saw a lot of different scams across the region in 2018, and this illegal activity is likely to continue in 2019.
That’s why area residents should be extra vigilant when it comes to protecting their personal information, including bank accounts, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and other private information that scammers are trying to steal.
Most of these illegal schemes involve phone calls and emails. We should be on guard against the biggest red flag of scammers: A caller or email that asks the consumer to provide his or her Social Security number, banking information, or credit card number.
Please safeguard yourself against scams in 2019.
