Let’s hold our collective breath for the southern East Coast of this country, as Hurricane Matthew barrels toward it.
Expected to make landfall this afternoon as a Category 4 storm, the hurricane is currently projected to tear up or flood an area from Florida to North Carolina.
We, in Mississippi, know how bad such storms can be. And we know how much help we have received from our neighbors in their wake.
Just like the rest of the nation came to our aid after Hurricane Katrina leveled the Gulf Coast in 2005, we need to be prepared to return the favor if Matthew does as much damage as is now being anticipated.
Those who are spared should be thankful but also feel an obligation to assist those who aren’t.
