The Leland Police Department is getting in gear to make Leland a little bit safer, one camera at a time.
All 16 Leland officers will soon have a body camera, a tool that police departments nationwide are using to protect officers and the public.
While Leland Police Chief Billy Barber said the cameras will serve as added security, it’s really a shame officers have to worry about their actions while doing their duties.
We hope Leland’s officers are doing their job honestly and rightfully and the use of the camera footage won’t be necessary.
But, on the chance it is needed in court, we are glad our officers will join the thousands across the nation who are now equipped with body cameras.
