BATON ROUGE, La. — Graveside services for Julian Price “Chuck” Wood will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bolton Teagle Cemetery in Winnfield, La.
Mr. Wood, 80, of Baton Rouge, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013.
He was born to Cleveland and Ollie Wood in Cleveland, Miss., on Aug. 30, 1933.
Mr. Wood graduated from Greenwood High School and then attended Louisiana State University before being called into service at the end of the Korean War.
Following his tour of duty, he continued to work at Illinois Central Railroad, where he retired after 51 years.
He became a member of Laurel Lea Baptist Church, currently known as New Life Fellowship, in 1974.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angela Ruth Wood; five brothers, Blair, Robert, Bill, Fernie and Jack Wood; and two sisters, May Thompson and Mary Frances Wood.
Mr Wood is survived by wife, Mary Ann Wood of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Laura Daigle and Tracy Wood, both of Lafayette, La.; a brother, Jim Wood, of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Visitation was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Sunday and will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. today.
The Rev. Tom Denton and the Rev. Joel Willson will officiate at the services.
Pallbearers will be Mark Daigle, Sgt. Brandon Daigle, David Wood, Kenny Thompson, Fernie Wood and Duncan Young. Bill Wood will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
