- The Greenwood Rotary Club has selected Sumner Tackett of Pillow Academy and Exzelman Ware of Amanda Elzy High School as Students of the Month for September. Tackett is the son of Randy and Beth Tackett of Greenwood. He plans to attend the University of Mississippi and major in pre-medicine. Ware is the son of Exzelman and Anita Ware of Greenwood. He plans to attend Mississippi State University and major in agriculture science.
- The following students graduated from Mississippi State University after the summer term: from Greenwood, Patricia Laquest Carver, Bachelor of Science, College of Arts & Sciences, Gary Dyksterhouse, Master of Agribusiness Management, College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, Mollie Mitchell Malouf, Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude), College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, and Tremayne Deon Porter, Bachelor of Business Administration, College of Business; and, from Minter City, Chauncey D’Wayne Brown Bachelor of Science, College of Arts & Sciences. Magna cum laude graduates must have a grade point average above 3.6 and below 3.8.
- Daprecia Chantevian Johnson-Moore of Greenwood was named to the president’s list for the summer term at The University of Southern Mississippi The list includes full-time students who earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average (all A’s).
- The following area students graduated from the University of Mississippi in August: Elizabeth Liddell of Greenwood received a Bachelor of University Studies in general studies; Walter Pillow of Greenwood, Master of Accountancy and Data Analytics from the Graduate School; Brandon Cation of Greenwood, Bachelor of Science from the School of Applied Sciences; Parker Bariola of Itta Bena, Bachelor of Accountancy from the Patterson School of Accountancy; and David Meadows of McCarley, Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the School of Engineering.
