The R.W. Harrison Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex at Mississippi Valley State University will celebrate its renovation and re-opening this weekend with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The MVSU Department of Athletics will host the ribbon-cutting event from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The $17.5 million renovation project, originally scheduled to be completed for the 2015-16 school year, represents a major investment in indoor sports programs at Valley, including volleyball and basketball.
Delta Devils will enjoy over 87,000 square feet of expanded space. Digital classrooms, new offices and locker rooms, digitized score boards, a concourse level that doubles as an indoor track, a team store, an aerobics area, a club room, trophy cases and a state-of-the-art wellness center are all part of the newly renovated complex.
Built in 1977, the R.W. Harrison Complex hadn’t seen any major renovations until this project was launched in 2013. Pryor and Morrow Architects of Columbus in association with Vernell Barnes Architect of Decatur, Georgia, designed the additions and renovations.
