Parents of Leflore County School District students have a new tool for monitoring their child’s progress — the Active Parent website.
Active Parent is designed to keep parents informed by allowing them to access their children’s school records, including attendance, current grades, homework assignments and disciplinary history.
Parents may enroll by going to ms4200.activeparent.net and start using the site almost immediately, said Claudia Boyd, the district’s Mississippi Student Information System coordinator.
“I have had six people since we’ve started this. They’re coming in gradually,” she said.
The website is for parents and legal guardians of students only.
Once on the website, those not signed up should click on the “Sign Up for an Active Parent Account!” link. From there they will be sent to a site where user information is required, such as an address and phone number.
Once that is completed, they must select user names and passwords. They are encouraged to write these down for later reference.
Then they will be directed to the Student Information Page, which will allow them to find their child’s grade level and school.
According to Maxine Greenleaf, the district’s director of public relations, the parent’s login is active for as long as a child is enrolled in the school district.
Boyd said parents will be able to monitor their children’s progress and be aware of any comments posted by their teachers.
She said the program has great potential to help parents become more involved with their child’s school performance. Those who need help using the site may call her at 453-2355.
