With the Ramcat Rhythm & Brews festival less than two weeks away, the event’s organizer is busy making final preparations.
The craft brew festival will be held Aug. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Ramcat Alley between Main and Howard streets in downtown Greenwood. The event will bring together music, food and craft and home-brewed beers for tasting.
This is the second time Main Street Greenwood, a downtown development organization, has planned the event. Last year’s Rhythm & Brews, scheduled for March, was rained out. Organizers are hoping the August date will mean clear skies this time around.
So far, three home-brewing groups from across the state have signed up to participate, said Brantley Snipes, executive director of Main Street Greenwood. Snipes said other home brewers are still welcome to participate.
A cash prize will go to the hobby brewer with the favorite home-made beer.
Advanced tickets for the event, which cost $10, are on sale online at mainstreetgreenwood.ticketleap.com. Anyone buying a ticket in advance will get a free beer token and huggie for the event.
Delta Bistro will be serving platters and snacks at the event, and ArtPlace Mississippi will have a number of patio games, including cornhole, giant Jenga and an oversized game of Connect Four.
There will be live music throughout the evening. Greenwood blues music promoter, Blues Gate, will be hosting a live blues jam from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Blue Mother Tupelo, a Nashville-based duo, taking the stage at 8:30 p.m.
