Pillow Academy will remain closed at least through April 24 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rodney Brown, headmaster of Pillow, made the announcement in an email to parents and guardians. Brown said the school will continue to monitor the situation on a week-to-week basis.
In the email, he praised parents and students for adjusting to distance learning and reminded students to focus on their studies.
St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School’s building will be closed for the rest of the school year. The Jackson diocese announced Wednesday that all of the state’s Catholic schools would be closed for that period.
Jackie Cooper-Lewis, principal of St. Francis, said students there are continuing distance learning.
Carroll Academy is closed through Friday, following Gov. Tate Reeves’ original order that closed school buildings. Penny Mitchell, headmaster at Carroll, said the school’s board will convene Thursday night to decide whether to extend the closure.
On Tuesday, Reeves announced that all public school buildings would be closed for the rest of the school year.
