There are no immediate plans for any budget cuts for public schools, Greenwood Superintendent Margie Pulley told the school board Tuesday.
Pulley and other school officials met with State Superintendent Tom Burnham at a meeting at Delta State University last week and again Tuesday in Jackson.
Schools have faced several budget cuts since 2009, including a 5 percent cut in September 2009, due to declining state revenues.
The superintendent’s report during an approximately half-hour meeting Tuesday night at Greenwood Middle School indicated operations are running smoothly.
Instructional coaches continue to work with teachers on lesson plans, grade-level team meetings and daily analysis, Pulley said. And there is excitement about the district’s elevation to “Successful” status and the accompanying rewards.
“Students are excited because they have received their incentives. Teachers are excited; they have received theirs. And some administrators are also excited about receiving their incentives,” Pulley said.
