The Greenwood Music Fest, coming up Friday and Saturday, will feature a variety of musical styles as well as food and other activities.
The free event will be held in the park between the bridges in North Greenwood. Admission is free, but no private coolers will be allowed.
Friday night’s blues program, which runs from 5 p.m. to midnight, will feature Grammy-winning singer Bobby Rush as the headliner.
Saturday’s headliner will be country musician Jeff Bates.
Other blues artists scheduled to perform will include Lady Trucker, Steve Johnson (grandson of blues legend Robert Johnson), Mickey Rogers, and Louis and the No Name Band of Grenada.
Each artist is expected to perform for about 90 minutes.
Festival organizer David Elmore, owner of D&P Concessions, credited Greenwood businessman Sylvester Hoover with helping put together the blues portion of the program.
Saturday’s music, which features country and soft rock music, begins at 1 p.m. with various solo acts. Other performers that day will include Miles Flatt, Honey Please and the Jason Miller Band.
Elmore said 10-foot-by-10-foot spaces are still available for arts and crafts vendors. The price for a spot is $50 for both days. Those interested in reserving a space may call Elmore at 299-4302.
The event will feature free hot air balloon rides provided by Mike Hanson of Indianola. There also will be inflatables, kiddie train rides and a kid zone.
Elmore said the festival will feature the biggest crawfish party in the Delta and crawfish plates will be sold. He said he brought in 2,000 crawfish for the event.
“It’s more crawfish than Greenwood has ever seen,” he said.
