Along with a bit of cooler weather, this fall’s edition of Leflore Illustrated has arrived today.
The 48-page, full-color quarterly magazine from The Greenwood Commonwealth gives a look at the people, places and events that make the greater Greenwood area special.
Inside the magazine’s pages, the Commonwealth’s staff and contributors take a look at some of the stories happening in and around our communities — and include plenty of beautiful photos.
Among the people and places featured in the latest edition of the magazine are Charlie Ray’s Restaurant, the Carrollton barbecue joint that’s quickly becoming a local favorite, and Jeff Byars, a Greenwood police detective who’s also sung with some of the stars of country music.
Painter Robin Whitfield explains how she found her calling teaching art to children — and how that calling changed her life.
Leann Hines discusses her new calling — and thriving business — raising healthy, free-range chickens for a growing clientele, including a couple of top Delta restaurants.
Elsewhere in the magazine, Staff Writer Bob Darden takes a look at Locus Benedictus, a 65-acre spiritual retreat and event center in West Greenwood, and the Gillespies lead readers on a tour through their lovely Carrollton home.
On the cover, Sarah Reese Fincher models some of this fall’s best styles, previewing a four-page fashion spread in the center of the magazine that shows off new and classic looks.
Leflore Illustrated is available for free at the Commonwealth, the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, the Greenwood Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, the Greenwood-Leflore Public Library and dozens of businesses in the Greenwood area.
