Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves will speak before several organizations Monday at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
This event is not open to the public, but several Greenwood groups will be present including the Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions and Exchange clubs.
The presentation was set up by the Greenwood Rotary Club. Jean Cadney, a former president of the club, reached out to Reeves after she heard him speak in Cleveland over the summer.
“We always try to have informative speakers. I don’t know who would be better to let us know what is going on within our state,” Cadney said. “Hopefully it is going to be a great program.”
Jane Moss, president of the Greenwood Rotary Club, said she wanted to invite the other clubs to show good representation.
“We thought he would be a good speaker and well versed in what is going on in our state,” Moss said.
The audience is expected to be about 70 people. Rotary meetings normally have around 30 to 40, she said.
The meeting will include a question-and-answer session.
It was not known this morning what Reeves will be discussing, and the Rotary Club did not ask him to address a specific topic.
Cadney said she does not think it will be a political speech but hopes attendees will walk away a little more informed about the future of Mississippi.
“I have not discussed with him what he will be talking about, but I am sure he is going to talk about what is going on across the state,” Cadney said. “You see something new in the paper, but we are not always abreast of things that are going on in the state.”
