The annual Leflore Illustrated summer edition is finally here — highlighting, among other things, some of Greenwood’s best kayaking spots and summer recipes such as tomato gravy and a antipasto potato salad.
This year, its cover is the beautifully designed home of Dr. Todd Hall and his wife, Stacey, located on the south bank of the Tallahatchie River.
The 48-page magazine features several topics including some of the town’s history, with a special look at Shiloh Seventh-Day Adventist Church 100th anniversary, and “From the Ashes,” a look into the evolution of Davis Elementary School.
The magazine also showcases up-and-coming musician Alanna Mosley, who grew up in Carrollton and now divides her time between Mississippi and North Carolina.
Readers can find a profile of Pillow Academy student Anne Hall Adams; a sneak peek into the fig wine of The Winery at Williams Landing; a profile of Larry’s Fish House; and “5 Things to Love About Here,” a column by Dan Splaingard.
Photos from ’Que on the Yazoo,” I’m So Greenwood, the Greenwood Air Show and Stars and Stripes in the Park are also included.
Complimentary copies can be found at a number of local businesses and at the Commonwealth office.
The magazine can also be viewed on the Commonwealth’s website at www.gwcommonwealth.com.
