The fall issue of Leflore Illustrated, out today, provides an in-depth look at some examples of what Leflore County has to offer.
The 10th anniversary issue — with 56 full-color pages — features “10 Things We Love About The Greenwood Area,” covering favorites such as Grand Boulevard, the annual Christmas parade, Howard Street and Keesler Bridge, among others.
The issue also includes a gallery of the magazine’s covers.
The fall issue’s cover features a photo of May McCarty modeling a fall outfit. Inside, the magazine features a full selection of fashions for the entire family.
Exploring area food and dining, the magazine profiles Chris Reed, head chef of the Greenwood Country Club, and Mary Lindsey Smith, the owner of What’s Cooking?
The strength of faith is chronicled in the history of Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church, which was destroyed by a lightning strike in 2006 but was rebuilt and continues its mission in the community.
The “Just Ask a Kid” feature focuses on 6-year-old Lenora Faulkner.
Other stories include a look at Jan and T.J. Nabors’ Carroll County home, the annual Christmas lights display of Jerry Purnell, and Carroll County potter Sandra Stout.
Leflore Illustrated is available for free at the Commonwealth, the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, the Greenwood Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, the Greenwood-Leflore Public Library and dozens of businesses in the Greenwood area.
