Greenwood High School’s 105 seniors will don their caps and gowns Friday.
Graduation is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Leflore County Civic Center.
The valedictorian is Quenton Stevenson, and the salutatorian is Justicc Brown.
Stevenson put up an impressive high school resume: His GPA is about 4.7 and his letter grade average is 97.44. He was senior class president, editor of the yearbook and captain of the baseball team, among several other club activities.
And he plans to major in mechanical engineering at Vanderbilt University because of “my love for calculus and physics.”
He’s the son of Ronnie and Samaria Stevenson. Although he’s already built a good foundation for it, Stevenson said he has no plans to follow his father, who is president of the Greenwood City Council, into politics.
His speech will be about “how far we have come and how far we have to go.”
Brown, the salutatorian, earned a letter grade of 90.80. She served as president of Mu Alpha Theta, a math honor society, and vice president of Health Occupations Students of America.
She will attend Tougaloo College in the fall and major in biology. Her ultimate goal is to become a physician, either in internal medicine or obstetrics/gynecology.
She is the daughter of Ladonna Brown and Charles Gilbert.
Graduation attendees are encouraged to arrive early to the Civic Center; doors will close at 7:30.
