NORTH CARROLLTON — The Carroll County Recreation Park Board will host a fundraising festival at the park in North Carrollton Saturday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
The board wants to raise enough money to light the fourth baseball field.
The festival is for all ages, with live music and games for kids. Carry Moore, park director, says there will be a cake walk, a toy walk, and other games, as well as inflatables for jumping.
The gate will open at 4 p.m. for games, Moore said, but live entertainment will kick off at 5 p.m. with Mack Allen Smith and The Flames, who will play about an hour. Then at 7 p.m., Odiss Kohn and The Last Rodeo will play “as long as people are around to listen,” said Terry Herbert, a member of the group and the person in charge of live entertainment.
Tickets for the event are $5 each for ages 12 and up, which includes the music. Younger children get in free. There will be tickets for games.
Food plates will be available for purchase, Moore said, and include barbecued chicken and pulled pork.
Moore said the lighting of the fourth field is very important to the recreation league, which had 17 teams playing this past summer, and often had weekend tournaments where teams came in from around the state. The J.Z. George High School baseball and softball teams also use the fields.
