Whether you are an artist or a collector, the October Sidewalk Art Sale and Show will have something for you on Saturday.
The first-time event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the last block of Main Street.
“There will be local art and good music,” said Emmett McClary, event organizer. “It should be a whole lot of fun.”
The idea to have a sidewalk event started with a suggestion by a Greenwood restaurant chef.
“She knew we had a band and asked if we would be interested in playing outside on the sidewalk,” he said. “It got me to thinking about what we could do outside before the weather turned.”
Knowing the numbers of local artists in Greenwood and the surrounding communities, McClary decided on the art show.
McClary made fliers and took them to some of the places he thought he might find artists and craftsmen, such as Delta State University, the Delta community colleges, Greenwood High School and Pillow Academy.
“We have some people who want to just show their art and others who will have items for sale,” he said.
Anyone can come out and sell creations.
Tables are $5 for students, $10 for teachers and $15 for artists and craftsmen. Anyone can bring a table and set up for free.
“We’re hoping to do this again in the spring with more notice,” said McClary.
The event will also feature performances by MC Antony Holmes and a magic and comedy show by Cedric Taylor. Live music by Emmett and Dr. Paul will entertain the crowd throughout the day.
