The Greenwood City Council will vote on a potential chief administrative officer at today’s meeting.
Cynthia Stanciel, the candidate nominated by Mayor Carolyn McAdams, is the public housing manager for the Greenwood Housing Authority. She was a former Regions Bank branch team leader.
Former CAO Thomas Gregory resigned in July to serve as the community planner for the Carl Small Town Center at MSU.
Stanciel, a Greenwood native, earned a Bachelor of Business Adminstration degree from the University of Phoenix by way of Christian Brothers University.
Stanciel, who was selected as one of the Commonwealth’s “Top 30 Under 40” this year, said in an interview for that edition that she chose her career because it enabled her to “be a business woman while helping others and serving my community.”
Stanciel is a member of Jones Chapel No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church and volunteers for the Boys & Girls Club, the United Way, the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, Feeding America and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
She said that her motivation for her work is living by her faith and knowing she did the right thing. “I live by the Golden Rule, ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ It makes me feel good to know I made a positive difference in someone else’s life.”
Stanciel’s honors include Young Business Manager of the Year, the ARC of Excellence award and Business Manger of the Year.
She is married to Timothy Stanciel, the assistant vice president and a loan officer for the Bank of Commerce.
