The Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce is getting ready to celebrate spring with its three-day “Fling Into Spring,” which begins Thursday.
“We always do something to promote retailers and restaurants. This year, the chamber is celebrating its 100th year, so we decided to do something special,” said Beth Stevens, executive director of the chamber.
Thursday night, the 18 participating retailers will extend their store hours to 8 p.m. and will feature specials, as well as music and food.
Beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday, a Spring Fashion Show Lunch will be held at the Viking Training Center on Main Street. Tickets for the luncheon are $30 per person and must be purchased in advance at www.vikingcookingschool.com.
Originally, 50 seats were available for the fashion luncheon. As of early Monday afternoon, only 28 seats were left, Stevens said.
Saturday, shoppers are encouraged to continue shopping and dining at participating members, she said.
Punch cards will be available at these businesses. When a shopper makes a purchase, the card is punched. Once the card has five punches in it, it can be dropped off at any participating member.
Once cards are entered, a drawing will be held for a gift basket celebrating the chamber’s 100th birthday.
The basket contains gift certificates from participating retailers and restaurants, cookware, wine, jewelry, cutlery and pottery valued at more than $3,000.
