New leadership at Carroll Academy will mean changes for the private Carrollton school.
Curtis “Curt” McCain replaces Steve Flemming as headmaster of the school. Flemming is now headmaster at Benton Academy.
“For the challenges that have been brought to me, I believe I can help,” McCain told the Commonwealth in June. “All independent schools are unique. All are different. CA will have its fair share of challenges.
“Carrollton has similar values as the Delta — a friendly, loving atmosphere.”
McCain told the Carroll County Conservative that thus far, 305 students have enrolled in the academy, and he expects that number to rise before classes begin.
The theme for the school year is “Stand Strong” —which, he explained, comes from the book of Ephesians.
McCain also said he feels very comfortable with the administrative team he has put in place. “I’ve started seeing teachers come back, and with the team we have in place, I don’t think there’s been a lot of changes, just tweaking,” he said.
A few new faces will grace the school’s halls, including Diana Hawkins, who was hired as Carroll Academy’s new resource officer. Last spring, Jimmy McGregor was added on as the new football coach.
McCain has also announced a new psychology class, to be taken for college credit.
The new headmaster told the Conservative that he can see the excitement for the upcoming school year in the eyes of his staff.
