NORTH CARROLLTON — The Carroll County School Board granted a request by School Superintendent Billy Joe Ferguson to allow a $200,000 note drawdown in anticipation of taxes the district will receive in early 2014.
The motion passed 3-1, with Kenneth DeLoach voting no. Ferguson told the board the money is needed to cover expenses for November.
District Business Manager Mimi Alldread told the board the district might not need any additional funds for December.
In an unusually short meeting Thursday, the board also:
• Reviewed several 16th Section leases.
•Approved a field trip to the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis for the Praise Team of Marshall Elementary School.
•Released students from an area at the county line next to Holmes County because it is more than 30 miles by bus from school in North Carrollton.
•Heard a report from Ferguson commending the J.Z. George band for earning all superiors at the state marching contest, and the boys cross country team for going to the state meet.
•Heard a report that the J.Z. George field house is nearing completion.
