Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour will speak to the Greenwood Rotary Club at its meeting at noon on Monday at the Three Rivers Inn in Greenwood.
Rotary Club President Rob White said he’s excited to welcome Barbour to Greenwood.
“Anytime we can get a statewide past or present officeholder, we feel lucky to do that,” White said. “We’re very fortunate.”
Barbour, a Yazoo City native, served two terms as governor from 2004 to 2012. During that time, he gained considerable national attention for leading the state’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi Law School, Barbour served as chairman of the Republican National Committee from 1993-97. Under his chairmanship, the Republican Party retook control of both houses of Congress.
He also co-founded the influential Washington, D.C.-based lobbying firm Barbour, Griffith and Rogers in 1991.
