Entry fees for this year’s 300 Oaks Road Race will increase by $5 per event beginning Tuesday.
Presently, the fees are:
• 10K run, $30
• 5K Run and 5K Walk, $25
• Fun Run, $20
• Team Entry for 5K Walk, $20
Participants may register for the 35th annual event online at www.300oaks.com.
The increased fees are designed to encourage people to register early, said Beth Stevens, executive director of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the annual event.
In the past, the race has averaged between 800 and 1,000 participants. Fifty people had signed up as of Wednesday, Stevens said.
The race will once again be “chip timed” by Start2Finish. Each runner or walker will wear a chip on his or her number, providing for accurate timing.
This year, 10K runners will receive tech shirts when they sign up. All other participants receive T-shirts, along with food and a drink. As in previous years, a costume contest will be part of the Fun Run, Stevens said.
