A Moorhead woman was killed in a one-vehicle rollover accident on Mississippi 7 early Sunday morning.
Mary A. Hall, 29, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tribune, died at the scene.
Two passengers, Willie McCline, 24, of Sidon and Latonya Edwards, 28, of Morgan City were transported to Greenwood Leflore Hospital with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Tony Dunn, public affairs officer for Troop D.
The Highway Patrol received a call at around 2 a.m. on Sunday about the accident.
Dunn said Hall was traveling north between Morgan City and Swiftown when the vehicle left the roadway on the right shoulder and then overturned several times. Hall was ejected.
“The driver was not buckled in,” Dunn said. It is unclear whether the passengers were wearing seat belts, as they had been transported to the hospital by ambulance by the time troopers arrived at the scene.
Troopers reported they smelled alcohol in the vehicle.
“We feel like alcohol was a factor,” Dunn said.
Will Gnemi, assistant Leflore County coroner, took blood samples at the scene.
“It normally takes a month or so to get that back,” he said.
