An Illinois man has been living in Greenwood for two years without reporting an important part of his past, according to Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks.
Alexander Jones, 45, who lived at 612 Henderson St., Apt. E, was arrested Saturday for failing to register as a sex offender.
He is being held without bond at the Leflore County Jail.
A person charged with a sex crime is required to register with law enforcement wherever he or she resides every three months after release from incarceration, Banks said.
Jones, who served time in Peoria, Ill., for sexual exploitation and exposed sexual organs, failed to register at all.
Banks said failing to register as a sex offender is a felony. Jones will be bound over to a grand jury in Leflore County.
“I doubt Illinois wants him back,” the sheriff.
