A Leflore County couple have been charged with possession of 30 grams of crystal meth with intent to distribute along with child endangerment.
Christopher Wade, 30, and Misty Lynn Wade Wiggins, 38, were arrested Tuesday morning at their 121 Dogwood Lane residence in the Chapman Subdivision off of Mississippi 7, Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said.
Thirty grams of crystal meth, known commonly as “ice,” is approximately one ounce. It has a street value of $8,000, Banks said.
“That’s a lot of ice.”
Both Wade and Wiggins remained in the Leflore County Jail this morning.
Banks said he believes the couple were married at one time.
Bond for Wade has not yet been set. Wiggins is wanted by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department for an outstanding parole violation, the sheriff said.
Also, the pair each face two counts of child endangerment for operating an illegal drug operation in the vicinity of children.
Banks said the raid was a combined operation conducted by two members of the North Central Narcotics Task Force, two officers of the Indianola Police Department and Commander Scott Stewart, a narcotics officer with the Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation, which lasted approximately three months, helped document Wade’s multi-county drug network, according to Banks.
“He was a pretty big guy. He would distribute to other counties,” the sheriff said.
The raid Tuesday yielded a undisclosed quantity of drug money in addition to the crystal meth, Banks said.
The sheriff said he felt good about the raid and the seizure of the crystal meth. “It’s off the street,” he said.
