The Greenwood Police Department’s narcotics division made what Chief Henry Purnell calls a big drug bust Monday night.
Officers had been investigating the home at 609 Roosevelt Ave. for about two months since they received tips that it was being used as a drug house, Purnell said.
When serving warrants Monday, police found crack cocaine, powder cocaine and about a pound of marijuana, the chief said. Three people who lived at the home were arrested.
Henry Kinds, 25, is charged with possession of powder cocaine with intent to sell enhanced by proximity to a church, possession of marijuana with intent to sell enhanced by a church and felony child endangerment.
Donald Parker, 24, faces a charge of possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell enhanced by proximity to a church.
Martha Kinds, 42, who is Henry Kinds’ sister, was charged with possession of marijuana and felony child endangerment.
All three remained at the Leflore County Jail this morning.
Children found at the home are now probably in the care of the Department of Human Services, Purnell said.
The chief said he takes his hat off to the public for its help in the Police Department’s continuing efforts to get drugs off the streets.
“That’s a big bust. We’ve been serving warrants. The community’s been calling us and letting us know. They don’t want those drugs in their neighborhood,” he said.
Henry Kinds had also been arrested when police did a drug sweep in November 2010 that resulted in more than 40 arrests. He was charged with sale of marijuana then.
The North Central Narcotics Task Force arrested Parker along with four others on Aug. 17 and charged Parker with conspiracy to sell cocaine, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
