The ages on the arrest docket are getting even younger.
Four Leflore County teenagers — including a 14-year-old — were charged with felonies Wednesday.
Daquariann Pilcher, 14, 301 Ave. H, and Darrell Parker, 16, 218 W. Martin Luther King Blvd., allegedly rode up to Sam Leach Park at about 9 p.m. Wednesday on bicycles and shot into a large crowd there.
A bullet fired from a .22-caliber pistol hit Andre Jones, 30, 714 Howard St. Jones was in satisfactory condition at Greenwood Leflore Hospital this morning, according to Greenwood Police Chief Henry Purnell.
Witnesses at the park called police and gave descriptions of the suspects, who were quickly apprehended.
Pilcher and Parker are both charged with aggravated assault and were being held on $10,000 bond at the Leflore County Jail.
“It’s summertime, and these kids done got hold of pistols from somewhere,” Purnell said.
But citizens are tired of shootings and are doing a great job helping police, the chief said.
In another case involving young arrestees, police charged Fontez Zerra Erving, 18, 801 Cypress Ave., Apt. 11B, and Levi Lamar Harper, 17, 106 Al Thomas Circle, Itta Bena, with burglary of a dwelling. Both were jailed this morning.
Purnell said the arrests are probably related to earlier burglaries that had been under investigation.
Burglaries were reported Wednesday at 617 Ave. L and 1300 Roosevelt Ave.
Also, Lakendric Tate, 24, 500 McCool St., was shot in the bottom with a .45-caliber pistol at 12:35 this morning at Hayes Homes.
A helicopter flew Tate to University Medical Center in Jackson. Purnell said Tate was in satisfactory condition when he left and told officers he didn’t know who shot him.
