Mayor Carolyn McAdams will host her first Mayor’s Walk in the Park at 9 a.m. Saturday at MLK Park, 310 Martin Luther King Drive, in Greenwood.
This is the first in a series of walks that McAdams will hold one Saturday a month for the next year in which citizens are invited to participate and discuss community issues with the mayor one-on-one.
“The mayor hopes to encourage a walking club in the local parks through this effort as well as listen to the concerns of the community,” said Betty Ray, executive secretary to the mayor.
The mayor will be walking in one of the city’s 12 parks every month for the remainder of 2011 and into 2012. The next walk will be at 9 a.m. Dec. 17, at Broad Street Park.
The remaining park schedule will be announced later, If you have any questions or want to know when she will be in your neighborhood, please call the Mayor’s Office at City Hall at 455-7605 or 453-2246.
